LOCAL OKLAHOMA CITY ELECTRICAL SERVICE

Electrical Service Across Oklahoma City Neighborhoods

OurElectrician is the residential electrical service division of Alliance Electric Services. We provide residential electrical service throughout Oklahoma City, from established central neighborhoods and older homes to remodeled properties and newer metro-area developments.

Older homes may have aging panels, limited breaker space, previous alterations, grounding concerns, or wiring that was never designed for today’s electrical demand. Newer and remodeled homes may need dedicated circuits for EV chargers, garages, outdoor living areas, better lighting, surge protection, or backup power.

REAL OKLAHOMA CITY SERVICE CALL

When the AC Problem Wasn’t the Air Conditioner

A service call in the Glenbrook neighborhood near NW 63rd and Grand is a good example of why electrical troubleshooting matters.

The HVAC company had discovered an electrical problem serving the outside AC condenser. We found deteriorated and corroded conduit and conductors, replaced the damaged electrical wiring and conduit, installed a new air-conditioning disconnect and electrical whip to the condenser, and coordinated directly with the HVAC company.

The homeowner was out of state, so we provided photographs and a detailed assessment.

The first job was finding out what was actually wrong.

Electrical Panel Upgrades

Oklahoma City homes span many decades of construction, remodeling and electrical changes. We evaluate panel condition, available capacity and previous additions before deciding whether repair, replacement or a service upgrade makes sense.

Breakers Keep Tripping

When a breaker in an Oklahoma City home suddenly begins tripping, something has usually changed. We look at the circuit, connected equipment, breaker and panel instead of treating repeated resets as the repair.

Electrical Troubleshooting

Older wiring, remodel work, added circuits and modern electrical loads can create very different problems from one Oklahoma City home to another. We trace dead outlets, partial power, flickering lights and intermittent failures back to the cause.

EV Charger Circuits

Adding Level 2 charging to an Oklahoma City home may require more than an open breaker space. We evaluate the existing service, panel capacity and charger requirements before installing the dedicated circuit.

Whole-Home Surge Protection

Oklahoma City thunderstorms and everyday utility disturbances can put electronics, appliances and HVAC controls at risk. Whole-home surge protection adds a first layer of protection at the electrical panel.

Generator & Backup Power

Backup-power needs vary widely across Oklahoma City homes. We plan generator inlets or standby systems around the circuits and equipment the homeowner actually wants available during an outage.

ESTABLISHED OKLAHOMA CITY HOMES

Older Homes and Years of Electrical Changes

Established neighborhoods can include homes that have gone through several generations of electrical work. We may encounter older panels, previous panel replacements, added circuits, remodel wiring, older devices, outdoor equipment exposed to years of weather, or electrical work altered by previous owners.

Age alone does not mean the system is unsafe. Condition, installation, available capacity, and today’s electrical demands matter.

NEWER OKLAHOMA CITY HOMES

New Homes Need Electrical Changes Too

Most homeowners did not custom-design the electrical layout of the house they purchased. After moving in, they often want more garage receptacles, outdoor power, eave receptacles for holiday lights, LED recessed lighting, dedicated circuits, or EV charging.

The house simply was not wired around the needs of the person who owns it today.

SURGE PROTECTION

Protect the Panel — and the HVAC Equipment

We install whole-home surge protection at the electrical panel, and we can add dedicated surge protection at the outdoor AC condenser and indoor furnace or air handler.

Modern HVAC equipment contains expensive electronic controls and components. The surge-protection equipment we install includes a lifetime warranty and an audible alarm that alerts the homeowner if the device is no longer providing proper protection.

No surge protector can guarantee that equipment will never be damaged. Our approach is layered protection at the panel and, when appropriate, at expensive HVAC equipment.

A tripping breaker does not automatically mean a new panel. We want to understand the problem first.

COMMON ELECTRICAL QUESTIONS

Oklahoma City Electrical FAQs

Why does a breaker in my Oklahoma City home keep tripping?

Repeated tripping can be caused by an overloaded circuit, damaged wiring, loose connections, failing equipment or a breaker problem. The cause should be diagnosed instead of repeatedly resetting the breaker.

Does an older Oklahoma City home automatically need a new electrical panel?

No. We evaluate the actual panel, service capacity, condition, available breaker space, previous alterations and the electrical loads the home needs to support before recommending replacement.

Can an electrical problem keep my outdoor AC condenser from running?

Yes. On a real Oklahoma City service call in the Glenbrook area, an HVAC company found that the condenser was not receiving proper electrical power. We found deteriorated conduit and conductors, replaced the damaged wiring and conduit, and installed a new AC disconnect and whip.

Do I need a panel upgrade before installing an EV charger?

Not necessarily. We first evaluate the existing electrical service, panel capacity, charger requirements and other household loads. If the existing system has adequate capacity, a properly sized dedicated circuit may be all that is needed.

Can you add receptacles and lighting to a newer Oklahoma City home?

Yes. Newer homes often need more garage receptacles, outdoor power, eave receptacles for holiday lighting, recessed LED lighting, dedicated appliance circuits or EV charging because the original electrical layout may not match the current homeowner’s needs.

Do you install whole-home surge protection in Oklahoma City?

Yes. We can install whole-home surge protection at the main electrical panel and add dedicated surge protection at the outdoor AC condenser and indoor furnace or air handler when appropriate.

Can you install generator inlets or standby backup power?

Yes. We can evaluate the circuits and equipment you want to operate during an outage and install appropriate generator inlet, transfer or standby equipment based on the home’s electrical system and desired backup loads.

What should I do if only part of my Oklahoma City home loses power?

If the utility still has power to the property but part of the home is dead, the problem may involve a breaker, loose connection, failed device, damaged conductor or another circuit issue. That is a troubleshooting call and should be diagnosed rather than guessed at.
