Lighting & Equipment Power

Start With the Equipment Requirements

Commercial equipment should not be connected based on guesswork. Before installing power, we need the equipment nameplate or manufacturer electrical requirements, the intended location and information about the existing electrical system.

We evaluate voltage, amperage, phase where applicable, conductor and overcurrent protection requirements, disconnecting means, connection method and available panel capacity before planning the circuit.

Common Equipment Power Projects

The exact circuit and installation method depend on the equipment and the building.

Restaurant & Food-Service Equipment

Added or relocated commercial equipment may require new circuits, receptacles, disconnects or hardwired electrical connections.

Shop & Work Equipment

Commercial tools and equipment may need dedicated circuits sized around the manufacturer’s electrical requirements.

Office & Specialty Equipment

New business equipment can require dedicated power, additional receptacles or circuit changes to support the load reliably.

Relocated Equipment

When equipment moves during a remodel or tenant change, the existing power location and circuit may need to be extended, changed or replaced.

Electrical Capacity Matters

Adding equipment can affect more than the branch circuit. We may need to evaluate the panel, available spaces, existing loads and the building’s electrical capacity before adding a new circuit.

If the existing electrical system cannot reasonably support the new load, we will explain what we found and what options should be considered before the equipment is connected.

Related Commercial Services

Equipment additions commonly overlap with troubleshooting and tenant-improvement work.

Commercial Troubleshooting

If existing equipment is losing power or tripping breakers, diagnose the electrical supply first.

LED Lighting Retrofit

Upgrade lighting while other electrical retrofit work is being completed in the space.

Tenant Finish Electrical

Coordinate equipment power with receptacles, lighting and other electrical changes during a tenant remodel.

Commercial Electrical FAQs

What information do you need before installing power for equipment?

The equipment model or nameplate information, electrical requirements, intended location and any manufacturer installation requirements are helpful.

Can you add a dedicated commercial circuit?

Yes, when the existing electrical system has appropriate capacity and the circuit can be installed in a code-compliant manner.

Can you install a disconnect for commercial equipment?

When a disconnect is required or appropriate for the equipment and installation, it can be included in the electrical scope.

Can you determine whether the panel can handle new equipment?

We can evaluate the existing panel and loads as part of planning the added circuit. Larger changes may require additional load information or engineering depending on the project.

Do you repair the equipment itself?

Our scope is the electrical supply and connection. Internal repair of the equipment may need to be handled by the equipment manufacturer or its service provider.
